Print Competition
"The Wild West"
February 17th - 20th, 2006
Courtyard Marriott Hotel -
Albuquerque, NM
Convention Speakers
Rick Avalos gave a fantastic program
Saturday evening. It was well attended with lots of participation by the
attendees. This program was packed with a wide variety of information that
inspired and motivated.
Dave Ashby presented a program on Senior
photography. He spoke on how to communicate with Seniors and gave tips on
creating images that would stand out from other senior photographers.
Loy Payne started his program off with a
portrait session. He demonstrated all the steps of a studio's work from
session to retouching and color correction to sending to the lab.
Jim Cunningham closed the convention by
sharing some of his vast knowledge of Painter. There were so many questions
by the attendees that the program closed 15 minutes late.
Tradeshow is Back!
Back by popular demand, PPANM's tradeshow
was well attended and a big hit.
Social Events
A big part of
the convention is the social functions. It gives members a chance to
talk with their fellow photographers. This can be an invaluable
experience to many - it is a chance to bounce ideas off of each
other and get inspired to maybe try something new! The Friday night Party kicked off the convention
- Wild West style! This was a DJ'd party with western decorations.
Many showed up in their cowboy finest! The food was incredible -
with barbeque chicken and brisket served with all the trimings. The
Party Location was at Marie
Leslie Photography. Saturday night was the traditional wine &
cheese/print critique. This was a great opportunity for members talk with the judges, ask questions
and they heard the judges critique selected entries.
Annual Awards Banquet
Sunday evening Feb. 19, 2005
hosted the annual awards banquet. The food was fantastic with choice
of chicken or salmon. After dinner the print winners were announced
with the corresponding slide show. The evening was capped off with
the presentation of the 1st "Honorary Order of the Zia" bestowed
upon Jack Avalos of Pueblo, CO.
