Moab Area Photography Field Expedition
 
Saturday Nov. 1, 2008:
5:00pm - Meet for Orientation at the Aarchway Inn Conference Room.
*This is an optional orientation/meet and greet before the workshop.
 
Sunday Nov. 2, 2008:
5:00am - Meet - Aarchway Inn
5:30am - Drive to Dead Horse Point State Park
           - Group Set-Up & Photograph Sunrise at Dead Horse Point
           - Review Basic Landscape Procedures & Equipment
           - How to Set-Up Panoramas
           - Proper Exposures
11:00am - Sack Lunch in the Field (Bring Your Own Lunch)
12:00pm - Drive to Arches National Park
             - Walk "Park Avenue" Area
             - Filters & Filtering Basics & Uses
             - Explore other Areas of Arches such as: "The Windows" or "Devils Garden"
2:30pm - Drive to Delicate Arch Trailhead
3:00pm - Afternoon Hike to Delicate Arch
*Note - Delicate Arch is a Moderate Hike: 1.5 miles one way with some open exposure.
           - Sunset Photography
           - Painting with Light
           - Return Hike in the Dark
 
Monday Nov. 3, 2008:
5:00am - Drive to Island in the Sky located in Canyonlands National Park
           - Hike to Mesa Arch (Dark)
6:45am - Sunrise Photography
9:00am - Adjourn - Have a Safe Return Home!
 
What to Bring:
- Flash Light & Extra Batteries for night/pre-dawn hikes.
- First Aid Kit - just in case.
- Water - You will be hiking in the Desert, bring at least 1 liter per person per hike!
- Snacks.
- Sack Lunch for Sunday.
- Hiking Shoes.
- Dress in Layers - Temps can rise and fall dramatically during the course of the day. November can have varying weather - Be prepared for snow, rain and/or heat.
- Rain Gear: Umbrellas and/or Ponchos for people - clear plastic bags for camera equipment.
- Pen & Paper. (Small notebooks recommended)
- Camera & Photo Back-back (recommended) or carrying case.
- Tripod - Tripod carrying case or Camera Backpack with tripod strap.
